Authorities ID Victim Of Early Morning Fatal Stabbing In Western Mass: Report

Authorities have identified the victim of an early morning stabbing in a Western Massachusetts city as Duane Miller, age 49, of Springfield, Western Mass News reports

Police responded to the stabbing in the 0-100 block of School Street in Springfield just after 5 a.m. on Monday, as previously reported by Daily Voice. Responding officers found Miller bleeding out and rushed him to Baystate Medical Center where he later died, according to Springfield Police.

Madonya Jones Rodriguez, 21, was arrested in connection with the killing just after 5:30 Monday morning, police said. During her arrest, a witness allegedly pointed at Rodriguez and said, “This is the one that did it right here," Western Mass News reports.

Court documents obtained by the outlet say Jones Rodriguez said, “He hit me! He hit me!” during her arrest. Police did not see any marks on her, the outlet continued. 

Jones Rodriguez is being held bail with her next court date scheduled for January 6, 2023, Western Mass News continued. Springfield homicide detectives and the Hampden District Attorney’s Office are still investigating the case.
